What we offer


As the
Manager, Construction Operations you will lead, develop, inspire, and manage the division's Construction Office team members, which includes production associates, operations coordinators and cost associates.

As part of the Construction Leadership Team, you are responsible for achieving business objectives, meeting customer commitments, and delivering defect-free homes on time and within budget.


What you'll do

  • Provide exemplary leadership to the Construction office team, including talent identification, coaching, performance management, recruiting, engagement, and development.
  • Be responsible for developing, implementing, and communicating value driven construction techniques and production procedures, while continually looking to recommend valueengineering and other cost saving opportunities.
  • Lead the production team and elevate performance with a focus on even flow production, growing efficiencies, & increasing productivity.
  • Develop, monitor, and adhere to the building budgets, work schedules, and labour forecasts with a view towards maximum efficiency.
  • Monitor plan changes. Estimate prices of all changes and provide written descriptions of change orders.
  • Take an analytical approach to construction processes and data and translates technical processes and information into a structured source of reference material to all key areas of the business.
  • Measure current processes and identifies improvements and future state models by seeking innovative solutions through a team based, collaborative approach.
  • Provide overall technical expertise, and support to all construction projects, ensuring projects are constructed as per design, budget, and schedule, in line with company quality assurance and safety standards.
  • Identifies and manages risk and opportunities on construction projects.
  • Liaises frequently with internal and external stakeholders, such as Land Development, Contracts & Purchasing, the Design Studio, Construction Management, Human Resources and Consultants.
  • Other duties as required.

What you bring

  • Postsecondary education in Engineering, Architecture, Business or related field, or suitable combination of education and experience.
  • Strong planning, organizational, and time management skills including the ability be forward planning.
  • Ability to identify and manage risk and opportunities on construction projects, understand and manage by financial position.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with a broad network of internal and external key stakeholders and decision makers, and a strong customer focus.
  • Excellent presentation skills with the ability to create clear, compelling and memorable communications.
  • An analytical approach to problem solving with an emphasis on databased analysis.
  • Ability to lead with influence, train, develop, mentor and coach staff through advanced leadership skills with the ability to delegate as required and work effectively within a large team.
  • Strong ability to use Microsoft Office Suite and experience using ERP systems (JD Edwards and BuildPro an asset), with an aptitude for adopting new technology.
  • Valid G Class drivers license with the ability to travel as required to various job sites.

Bonus points

  • 2+ years of progressive experience in ICI and/or Low Rise construction industry.
  • Basic knowledge of construction industry including building materials, construction specifications, methods and procedures, construction law and building codes, and safety and quality management practices.
  • PMP Certification
  • MBA
