Full-Time Contract Construction Project Manager (Vancouver, Canada)


Opportunity:

Steelix is seeking a motivated Construction Project Manager to join our team at our Surrey, B.C. office.

We are dedicated to making a positive impact on the communities we build in, and this role will be responsible for managing various projects from start to finish, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and meet our standards.


As the Construction Project Manager, you will report directly to the CEO and be responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and monitoring projects.

You will work closely with the project team to develop and implement systems for tracking costs, schedules, risks, compliance, and efficiency while maintaining accurate records.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Coordinate with the project team to implement systems for tracking costs, schedules, risks, compliance, and efficiency while maintaining accurate records
  • Review and evaluate the performance of contractors, architects, and engineers to ensure they meet project standards and requirements
  • Review and provide technical feedback on design elements to the project team to facilitate prompt decisionmaking during the design phase
  • Develop scope of work, distribute tender documents, receive and evaluate bids, and recommend contract awards
  • Implement quality control procedures and ensure work meets relevant standards and requirements
  • Estimate project costs by analyzing plans and specifications, conducting site visits, and consulting with the project team
  • Identify and source materials and equipment, and obtain competitive quotes from suppliers and vendors
  • Update project schedule, track progress, identify and address potential delays or issues, and evaluate project cost to ensure budget compliance
  • Source new products, materials, and techniques to improve project quality and reduce costs

Qualifications and Experience:


  • 5+ years of experience in construction and project management for multifamily wood frame and/or concrete development projects
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, able to lead project teams and manage relationships with contractors, architects, engineers, and stakeholders
  • Understanding of construction drawings, techniques, building codes, and industry standards
  • Problemsolving and decisionmaking skills, able to identify and address potential issues and delays
  • Understanding of project management tools and techniques, including scheduling, cost, and risk management
  • Understanding of procurement process, able to source materials and equipment and evaluate vendor quotes
  • Understanding of construction permitting process and regulations
  • Organizational and time management skills, able to multitask and prioritize effectively
  • Proficient in project management software, scheduling software, and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience in cost and budget management, including forecasting, tracking, and reporting
  • Experience in creating systems and processes to improve project efficiency and performance
  • Understanding of safety regulations and ability to develop and implement safety procedures
  • Experience in product sourcing, researching and selecting new products, materials, and techniques to improve project quality and reduce costs.

Preferred qualifications (not required):


  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management and/or certification as a Quantitative Surveyor, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
  • 3 years' PM experience working on projects designed under Part 3 of the building code
  • Experience with CCDC contract administration (CCDC 17 and 18)
