Position Description:
Our Bakery & Café Associates love good food and are passionate about serving others and building community. As key members of our customer service team, each associate is responsible for carrying out their assigned duties in support of the mission and vision of the Nanaimo Bakery & Café


Responsibilities:


Bakery & Café Associates are responsible for:

• Creating a welcoming and positive customer experience at the bakery and/or café counter
• both in person and on the phone.
• Advising customers on product selection including making suggestions for new products, sharing nutritional/allergy information and sharing other product information enthusiastically.
• Selecting, weighing, pricing, and packaging purchased items, as well as processing payments.
• Monitoring the visual appeal and the availability of all display areas.
• Communicating product stock levels to the production team as per established procedures.
• Maintaining a clean and tidy customer service area and performing other duties on request.
• Completing all assigned opening and closing duties according to established procedures.
• Managing customer complaints and relaying them to the management team.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Abilities:

• Exceptional customer service, organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work with little supervision with a high standard for quality, attention to detail and cleanliness.
• Ability to work in a team environment with a clear, kind and effective communication style.
• Flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
• Physically able to regularly lift up to 20lbs, as well as stand, and exert wellpaced mobility for up to 8 hours.
• Able to promote safety awareness by following safe work procedures, reporting any unsafe conditions, practices, or injuries, and following reporting protocols.

Education & Experience:

• Some experience in a retail environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered an asset.
• Valid Food safe Certificate
• Level One (mandatory)
