CollingwoodGeneral and Marine Hospital (CGMH) is an 84 bed hospital located inCollingwood, Ontario (approximately 90 minutes north of Toronto) that servesmore than 74,000 permanent residents and 3.5 Million annual visitors to thecommunities of Wasaga Beach, Collingwood, Clearview and the Blue Mountains.CGMH is an acute care hospital providing emergency care, diagnostic servicesincluding lab, imaging and cardio respiratory therapy, as well as two inpatientunits (medicine and surgery). In addition, CGMH also provides care in specialtyareas including obstetrics, orthopaedics, intensive care and surgery. TheHospital also provides out patient care including dialysis and a wide range ofclinics including mental health and rehabilitation services. Qualifications:

MLT with CSMLS Certification and registration with CMLTO. Please note: We will also consider MLT students and new graduates actively pursuing CSMLS certification

Phlebotomy skills are essential

Excellent customer service demeanour

Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills

Ability to accurately perform the duties of the role with a focused attention to detail

Physically able to perform the essential duties of the role

Experience with Quality Management Systems an asset

Must have an ability toeffectively communicate (written and verbal) in the English language in orderto provide excellent communication with team members, patients and families.Ability to communicate in additional language(s) is considered an asset.

Must have basiccomputer skills

Must be able to performall bona fide and essential duties of the position, which may include physicaldemands such as moving/transferring patients, pushing, pulling, bending, etc.

Ability to work independentlyand effectively communicate with other members of the health care team

Duties and Responsibilities:

Performs laboratory tests and quality control procedures in all sections of the laboratory

Adheres to the policies and procedures

Procures and labels laboratory specimens inaccordance with established protocols

Organizes their time to collect, assay and reportpatient results in a timely manner and produces quality results

Recognizes, troubleshoots and communicatesequipment/reagent related malfunctions and initiates appropriate remedialaction in a timely manner

Participates in Quality Assurance activities

Participates in all mandatory in-services
