Assistant Controller - temporary 6 month contract (mat leave coverage)**Responsibilities:- Assist with consolidated financial statements for the group.
- Manage a staff of 1 direct report
- Take the lead in IFRS accounting standard, required reporting and recording of journal entries
- Assist with Integration of 3vG and any future add-ons as it relates to financial reporting.
- Help Manage monthly / quarterly / annual financial statement reporting.
- Work with the Group Controller to improve the finance and accounting function as it relates to Orica
- Ensure reporting has a high level of accuracy
- Assist with developing and reporting financial KPI's.
- Assist in preparation of annual budgets.
- Work with the Group Controller to improve the finance and accounting function
- Identify and opportunities for improvement in reporting, collections, payment cycles, payroll, etc.
- ERP
- Assist with implementation of Epicor Multi-Company ERP.
- ERP
- Assist with writing reports using XL Connect Excel Add-in and BAQ functionality in Epicor.
- Assist with global audit including creating and maintaining schedules, improving reporting consistency across the group of companies, converting local reporting to IFRS and
- managing/improvement consolidation process.
- Assist with manage NRC/IRAP claims reporting and SRED.
- Assist with annual audit process, in coordination with the Group Controller
- Manage compliance filings, as requested.
- Other duties as requested.**Qualification and Skills:
- CPA (CGA, CA) designation with a minimum 57 years' experience in a Assistant Controller Role (with private practice experience)
- Experience with IFRS reporting standard
- Experience with Epicor ERP considered an asset, with ERP experience highly desired
- A combination of education and experience will be considered
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated leadership background with the ability drive change
- Experience in a manufacturing environment using standard costing
- Experience in Construction or project accounting using percentage of completion revenue/cost recognition considered an asset
- Experience developing and implementing Systems, processes and Procedures
- Experience defining and writing financial reports and queries
- Multicompany, multicurrency and consolidations reporting required
- Strong continuous improvement mindset
- Ambitious and continuous growth and learning mindset as an individual and as it relates to reports
- This position is an on site role located at the Maple Ridge office, with potential to work from home 23 days per week.
