We are currently looking to bring on board a
Safety & Emergency Coordinator to compile, document and support the facilitation of training on the Emergency Procedures for each venue at Harbourfront Centre.

This role will also provide administrative support for the company-wide Emergency Management Plan, as well as other safety & security programs.

Hours of Work: 35 hours per week


Rate of Pay:
$20 per hour


Work Location:
At our lakeside campus in Toronto at 235 Queens Quay W.


Duties:


  • Review and update Emergency Management Plan and other health & safety policy and procedures, as required.
  • Oversee the Contractor Management Program and database.
  • Support the development of new health & safety policies and procedures.
  • Oversee the Safety & Security Department Intranet Page and makes updates as required.
  • Attend events on evenings and weekends to support implementation of Emergency Management Plan and other health & safety policy and procedures.
  • Work with key stakeholders such as Production and Programming to ensure events, festivals and other programming meet the requirements of emergency management plan and other health & safety policy and procedures.
  • Update and support facilitating training on emergency procedures and specific responsibilities of staff to different business units and stakeholders including senior management and incident command.
  • Perform site emergency management risk assessments to identify existing or potential hazards, determine corrective or preventive actions, and provide the necessary follow up to the Director, Safety & Security.
  • Identify best and emerging practices in emergency management and provide recommendations as required.
  • Support compliance with legislation, regulations, policies, guidelines, exercises, and other implementation in consultation with Director, Safety & Security.
  • Maintain all Safety & Security documentation for accurate record keeping including training records.
  • Actively promote and build a positive safety culture among management, employees and contractors.
  • Perform administrative duties or other duties of a similar nature as needed and as assigned.

Requirements:


  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age
    at the beginning of the employment period.
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the _Immigration and Refugee Protection Act_ for the duration of the employment.
    Please note that international students are not eligible participants of this program, nor are youth awaiting a refugee status ruling, nor those who hold a temporary visitor visa, youth visa or work visa.
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
  • 13 years' experience of Emergency Planning experience.
  • 13 years' experience Occupational Health & Safety Act and applicable regulations.
  • A postsecondary degree or certificate in Emergency Planning and Management or Health & Safety.
  • Experience with Festival and Event Safety.
  • Experience delivery training to various levels of management and other stakeholders.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Availability to work some evenings and weekends.
  • Planning and organizational skills to oversee, track, and coordinate projects from beginning to end is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with the WSIB Safety Excellence Program is considered an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical, communication and problemsolving skills are considered ideal.
