Position Overview

Responsibilities and Duties:


The Estimator shall:

• Preparation of comprehensive and accurate estimates of costs of materials, labour and equipment, and subcontracts for construction projects based on contract bids, quotations, schematic drawings, and specifications
• Identify all assumptions being made during the estimation process on a project.
• Obtain quotations for subcontracted services, with the help of the Project Manager(s).
• Obtain quotations for various purchased raw materials and logistics services from the appropriate vendors.
• Work with Finance team to ensure accurate labour and overhead rates are being used in the estimating process, and that minimum margin requirements are met.
• Creates and maintains a costing data base for future budgeting.
• Keep a detailed list of drawings/documents, including their date and revision level, that are being used to create the estimate.
• Discuss with Business Development and explore provided documentation to gain a deep understanding of the project requirements and scope of work.
• Identify any items where scope of work varies from the Company's core product offering.
• Select, measure, and track important estimating metrics, and appropriately save and file various estimate revisions.
• Perform complex analysis of collected data and metrics
• Participate and provides updates in project meetings, review schedules and coordinate various parties involved in the estimation of designbuild project
• Build and maintain longterm relationships with the key vendors
• Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors
• Communicate and liaise with Client's consultants, under the supervision of business development, and Project Team efficiently
• Visit offices, construction sites, factory, and other venues if necessary
• Performing other duties and assists with special projects as assigned

Qualifications and Skills:

years of estimating experience with a subcontractor in the multi-level residential, commercial and/or industrial space within the Construction industry

• University degree or college diploma in engineering, architecture, construction, or equivalent experience
• Construction Estimator Certified (CEC) designation or working towards an asset.
• Proven ability to read blueprints, architectural drawings, plans, and specifications.
• Strong math skills including basic arithmetic, algebra, and geometry.
• Strong computer skills including, MS Office, Excel, and Estimating Software such as BlueBeam, Planswift,
• Possess exceptional written and verbal communication skills, organizational and problemsolving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and time management skills, ability to multitask and meet strict deadlines

Salary:
$65,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
