Main Purpose & Function

The Operations Worker III is responsible for skilled and semiskilled work including Sign installations, Anti graffiti wraps, graffiti removal, and preparing surfaces for painting.

The duties require heavy physical effort and may involve working in hazardous conditions.

Operations Worker III's are responsible for adhering to established work and safety standards and depending on the complexity of the work required, may work under close direction, guidance and supervision.


Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • The Operations worker III is responsible for prepping and installing wraps to utility boxes, all different types of sign installations, graffiti removal, paint preparation, and to assist trades people as needed. Assists with road marking duties.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Completion of high school supplemented by experience in the above noted work duties.
  • Experience in the operation of a wide variety of manual, pneumatic, electric and gas powered tools, including motorized construction and maintenance equipment, such as, but not limited to generators, scaffolding, boom lifts, scissor lifts, drills, compressors, rotary hammer drills, etc.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must have considerable knowledge of the principles, practices, methods and materials used in preparing surfaces for painting, power washing, and graffiti removal.
  • Working knowledge of City of Vancouver bylaws, safety standards an asset
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to deal tactfully and effectively with the public and other staff
  • Ability to exercise considerable independence of judgment and initiate action for the work.
  • Ability to courteously answer questions and deal with the public.
  • Ability to follow written (blueprints, word orders and sketches) as well as verbal instructions and maintain accurate records

Drivers License and Record Checks

  • Copy of your threeyear ICBC Commercial Driver's Abstract (N Print) directly from ICBC dated within 30 days of this posting
  • Copy of your threeyear ICBC Driver's Claims History directly from ICBC within 30 days of this posting
  • If you have less than three years driving experience in BC, a request must be made for out of province/country abstract and claims history
