What you'll learn & achieve:


  • Respond to inquiries from Canadian regulatory officials about certifications and services that are related to their approval of installations.
  • Represent UL solutions at outside organization meetings, committees and conferences, and provide presentations on regulatory related technical topics and UL Solutions programs
  • Assist in the preparation of presentations, written positions, and material for regulatory audiences.
  • Provide advice to UL Solutions staff on Canadian code and regulations requirements that potentially impact certification and standards development.
  • Understand and comply with applicable UL Solutions practices, policies, and procedures, and effectively utilize the information resources needed to accomplish job responsibilities.
  • Help resolve Canadian code and certification related issues, seeking guidance from appropriate UL colleagues as needed based on the situation.
  • Participate in code and standards development activities to help achieve UL Solutions business and public safety related objectives.
  • Identify new regulatory related business opportunities, and help develop related analyses and recommendations for review by regulatory services management and senior technical staff.
  • Conduct Canadian code and regulatory related projects, and help provide technical advice in assigned code, regulatory and certifications areas.
  • Read and follow the Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct, and follow all physical and digital security practices.
  • Perform other duties as directed.
What makes you a great fit:


  • Bachelor's degree required; Advanced degree preferred
Examples include:

MBA, MA in
Project Management, or master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent work experience

  • In addition minimum six years experience with the enforcement of codes and regulations, or in regulatory related design or certification work, or equivalent demonstrated competency.
  • Working knowledge of Canadian codes, regulations, and standards in the code or regulatory discipline, OR detailed knowledge of standards and certifications related to the assigned code related field and a working knowledge of the code or regulatory discipline.
  • Working knowledge of the technical vocabulary common to the code or regulatory discipline.
  • Knowledge of code enforcement activities and code authority's use of certification and standards information.
  • Ability to develop solutions to resolve problems associated with code, standards or certification related issues.
  • Working knowledge of industry issues, needs, stakeholders, and problems.
  • Effective writing and communication skills, including public speaking.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%.
