The Opportunity


General Bank of Canada is looking for a
full-time permanent
Collections Specialist to join the organization as a key contributor with the Bank's Collections team.

Consistent with the growth trajectory of the Bank, this is an excellent opportunity for the right individual to contribute to building the bank of the future with considerable potential for learning, growth, and advancement.


Reporting to the Senior Credit Analyst, the Collections Specialist is responsible for supporting the management of the collections and delinquency function of the Bank.

This includes developing and implementing collection strategies, maximizing returns and recoveries, and ensuring compliance with the Bank's collections policies.

This role is perfect for someone who excels in time management, can adapt to dynamic business needs, maintains confidentiality, and brings energy, motivation, and a collaborative spirit to consistently deliver accurate and high-performance results.


Responsibilities

  • Collections Policy, Process, and Technology_
  • Take ownership of the Bank's delinquent accounts, developing and implementing strategic and tactical steps to maximize returns and recoveries as required.
  • Ensure compliance with the Collections sections of the Bank's credit policy, and where necessary, make recommendations for changes to the policy.
  • Develop and manage relationships with outside agencies, including bailiffs, collection agencies, skip tracers, legal professionals, and service aggregators.
  • Utilize creative investigative techniques, as allowed by law, to locate skip customers, and to direct recovery efforts.
  • Track performance of the arrear's portfolio. Identify emerging or ongoing trends and adjust collection strategies as necessary to optimize returns.
  • Maintain an awareness of industry trends, make recommendations, and implement changes in response.
  • Being a team player and confidently collaborating with sales, customer service, and various other departments.
  • Customer Service_
  • Display qualities of professionalism and empathy so that delinquent clients are felt to be treated fairly and with dignity.
  • When appropriate to the circumstances, adjust the approach to achieve desired outcomes while maintaining professional standards of respect and courtesy.

What You Bring to the Table

  • 2+ years of experience in consumer collections along with working knowledge of the collection and recovery legal framework.
  • Postsecondary education in a related field.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to establish trusting relationships with clients and team members, portraying the General Bank customer service value.
  • The ability to prioritize and manage your time effectively, balance resources and adapt with changing business needs.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of trust and confidentiality.
  • Strong collaboration skills, and the ability to work both with others and independently. Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.

Location:
Edmonton.

The salary range for this position is $61,691.79 to $83,465.37.
