***:The Site Safety Officer will be responsible for assisting the Site Superintendent with accurate compliance with OH&S legislation and providing support in promoting a culture of safety on WM work sites. You will also be responsible for assisting the Site Superintendent with compliance to the corporate 'Occupational Health and Safety Program'.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Support and promote WM Occupational Health & Safety Program, COR Program
  • Assist site operations with compliance to current Occupational Health & Safety Legislation and WM safety rules
  • Liaise with Site Superintendents on a regular basis relating to health and safetyrelated matters
  • Educate and guide Site Superintendents on safety best practices, OHS legislation, and sitespecific safetyrelated matters/requirements
  • Train, Coach, and guide site superintendents, employees, and subcontractors to ensure unsafe conditions/acts are corrected and safe work practices are followed
  • Assist Site Superintendents with the completion of all required paperwork in a timely fashion
  • Maintain subcontractor and MSDS documentation
  • Be up to date on all activities at site operations; provide positive safety role model and support
  • Maintain safety standards with mínimal interruption to site operations
  • Facilitate and participate in site inspections and implement corrective action as required
  • Ensure all safe work procedures are available for workers to review
  • Conduct followup with injured workers as necessary including uptodate documentation, action items, and return to work programs
  • Assist with other duties as assigned upon completion of required site safety duties

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Minimum 3 years of experience in industrial construction/site safety (onsite safety support)
  • Valid Occupational First Aid Level 3 (OFA 3) or OFA
  • Tiltup or Casteinplace construction experience preferred
  • Solid knowledge of construction processes and site safety
  • The ability to handle highpressure situations in a professional manner; take an educational approach to providing safety support to Site Superintendent and site workers
  • Valid BC Driver's License (Note position requires travel to various WM site operations)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety legislation
  • Construction Safety Officer (CSO) is required.
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office
  • Word, Excel, and Outlook)
