Reporting to the Director, Real Estate and Property Management or their designate, the Relief Cleaner is responsible for the general cleaning activities at one or more Dixon Hall program site locations.

The Cleaner will also be responsible for routine ground maintenance, including snow removal, minor repairs, and painting, as required.

The day-to-day duties of the Relief Cleaner will be supervised by the program manager of the location at which they are working.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for general cleaning activities at Dixon Hall locations, including Out of the Cold sites, as directed.
  • Perform routine ground maintenance, including snow removal, minor repairs, and painting, as required.
  • Work safely at all times following Health and Safety policies and procedures, and report any potential hazards, faults, or problems to the Manager or appropriate emergency contact.
  • Follow all program specific policies, procedures, and best practices for health, safety and infection control.
  • Work under the guidance of the agency, program policies and procedures, including the Mission, Vision and Values of Dixon Hall.
  • Undertake other tasks and responsibilities as assigned within the purview of the job description.
  • Other duties as reasonably assigned from time to time.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Proficiency in using cleaning and maintenance equipment.
  • Demonstrable experience in cleaning and maintenance; trained in the procedures and practices of commercial property cleaning and maintenance.
  • Demonstrable skills in carpentry, plumbing and electrical repair and be familiar with and able to use such tools as may be required for such maintenance functions.
  • Experience with the safe use of cleaning chemicals and fluids and understand requirements under WHIMS legislation.
  • Strong verbal and written English language skills; fluency in additional languages relevant to the communities of service will be considered an asset.
  • Able to read and understand basic cleaning instructions and information, including health and safety directives
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with staff, clients, volunteers, the public and outside contractors in a respectful and professional manner.
  • Superior organizational and problem solving abilities; ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines, prioritize, and take initiative.
  • Demonstrable experience working within a diverse, ethnoracial, multilingual community setting.
  • Selfmotivated and able to complete required tasks with mínimal supervision.
  • Must be qualified to work in Canada legally for the employer.
  • Able to provide a Vulnerable Sector Screening check with a "Clear" or satisfactory result that meets the operational requirements of the agency.
  • MUST be fully vaccinated (two [2] doses) against COVID19 with a vaccine that has been approved for use in Canada.
