What can I expect to do in this role?: Working under the direction of the Manager, Library Services the Information Management Specialist will:

  • Contribute expertise and advice to the development and implementation of various aspects of the RIM plan and framework.
  • Provide procedural and technical leadership regarding WSIAT's RIM framework to directors, managers and team leaders throughout the Tribunal.
  • Propose and implement plans to organize and update information and steward information sharing and documentation across the organization.
  • Ensure that records are managed within appropriate categories and retained according to schedules dictated by each particular category.
  • Conduct postimplementation evaluations and make recommendations for improvements/enhancements.
  • Work collaboratively with business units across the Tribunal to gather and analyze information/data on business specific information and records management requirements.
  • Coordinate/document record and information management activities and tasks in support of the RIM program, policies, procedures and best practices.
  • Assist Tribunal business units in maintaining their records in accordance with the RIM framework.
  • Coordinate/manage the implementation of RIM policies and procedures.
  • Ensure Tribunal business units are in compliance with RIM legislative and regulatory requirements, best practices and standards.
  • Identify and assess RIM procedural compliance gaps and critical tasks required to address those gaps; makes recommendations to improve/enhance business unit compliance across the Tribunal.
  • Coordinate the development and delivery of RIM training and education initiatives/programs to promote awareness, understanding and reinforce compliance with RIM best practices, standards, policies, procedures and legislative/regulatory requirements

How do I qualify?:


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


Knowledge and Technical Skills:


  • Demonstrated working experience and knowledge in records and information management strategies, standards, policies, systems and best practices or relevant experience.
  • Understanding of the technical infrastructure which supports the Tribunal's RIM framework and upon which the RIM procedures and practices are built, including user authentication, Microsoft 365/cloud based tools, active directory and information system policy orchestration tools and techniques.
  • Knowledge and understanding of electronic information/records management principles, techniques and related emerging issues, record lifecycles, capture mechanisms and preservation techniques, classification approaches, search and retrieval methods, levels of access control and permissions, retention and disposal strategies and related government legislation, direction, policies, procedures and best practices.
  • Knowledge of techniques for providing users with access to directories and subdirectories.
  • Skill in the use of office computer software (e.g. MS Word. Excel. Outlook).

Organizational and Analytical Skills:


  • Project management and leadership skills as well as research, planning and analytical skills.
  • Highly developed interpretive reasoning to translate highlevel priorities and discussions into projects and action plans.
  • Strong analytical skills to identify and assess RIM procedural compliance gaps and critical tasks required to address those gaps, and make recommendations to improve these.
  • Ability to plan and coordinate the development and delivery of RIM training and education initiatives/programs to provide training for staff on Tribunal's framework for file management.

Communication and Interpersonal Skills:


  • Effective communication skills to prepare and present recommendations.
  • Strong consulting and negotiating skills to work effectively in partnership with internal/external users.
