With an average age of 82 years, this small group of seven Sisters are experiencing many changes and transitions and require the services of a Housekeeper.
The Sisters home is surrounded by nature and is located on a large tranquil property on the edge of water.
Job Type
Part-time (5 hours, 1 day/week)
Job Summary
Reporting to the Benedictines of Nanaimo (BON) Executive Director, the Housekeeper is accountable for all aspects of the cleaning of the general areas of their house in Nanaimo, including certain designated suites.
While most of the Housekeeper's responsibilities will be within regular business hours one day per week, there may be occasions where the Housekeeper is called upon outside of these hours.
Reporting
The Housekeeper will report to the Executive Director of the BON, however the incumbent will be expected to work quite independently, and in close collaboration with the residents with a mínimal amount of supervision.
Duties
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Perform a variety of cleaning activities such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming and polishing using appropriate solutions/methods
- Ensure all rooms are cared for and inspected according to standards
- Protect equipment and make sure there are no inadequacies
- Notify the ED on any damages, deficits and disturbances
- Check stocking levels of all consumables and replace when appropriate
- Adhere strictly to rules regarding health and safety and be aware of any companyrelated processes
Requirements:
- Excellent knowledge of health and safety requirements
- Previous experience as a housekeeper or other related field
- Deadline and detailoriented
- Selfmotivated and able to work with mínimal supervision
- Clear and effective oral and written communication skills in English
- Ability to both follow and give instruction and work collaboratively
- Compassionate, caring, respectful and flexible
- Understanding and support of Catholic/Christian values and religious life of the Sisters
- Physically fit to perform job duties
- Sign a Confidentiality Agreement and practice discretion
- Vulnerable Sector Police CheckStewardship
