Regional Physical Activity Consultant (RPAC)

Fundy Region (Municipality of East Hants, Counties of Cumberland and Colchester)

Contract Position:
Immediately to January 31, 2024
(with potential to renew).


This is an employment partnership between the NS Department of Communities, Culture, Tourism and Heritage (Communities, Sport and Recreation Division) & Recreation Nova Scotia.

Scope:

The Regional Physical Activity Consultant will be responsible for providing support and leadership to address inactivity by contributing to improvements in population levels of physical activity and a culture of movement within the Fundy Region of Nova Scotia.

This position will support regional opportunities and contribute to the priorities of the Let's Get Moving strategy for Nova Scotia.


Responsibilities include:

To improve the capacity of organizations, communities and leaders to create and implement policies and practices that support population level changes to physical activity and movement; provide quality advice, support, funding opportunities and assistance to expand the skills and knowledge in the region; enable, support and provide leadership on the development, implementation and evaluation of whole of community strategies to advance physical activity; encourage and support linkages, partnerships and multi-sectorial collaborations among stakeholders; assist and/or facilitate initiatives that improve social, physical and policy environments to enable physical activity and movement in key settings and seek to improve the diversity of Nova Scotians participating in physical activity, sport and recreation; grant consultation and administration; contribute to innovative and result-oriented regional initiatives to improve physical activity levels for all; provide leadership on regional contributions to advancing provincial strategies including the priorities of Let's Get Moving.


Education and Experience:

A Bachelor's degree with a minimum of three years' experience or an acceptable equivalent combination of education, training and experience.


Compensation:
Based upon a salary scale ranging from $49,220 to $60,776 depending on experience.


The position is hosted by Recreation Nova Scotia with funding provided by the NS Department of Communities, Culture, Tourism and Heritage (CCTH).

The consultant will be based in the CCTH office in Truro (flexible work options to be negotiated).


Term:
To start as soon as possible until January 31, 2024, with potential to renew.
