With a proven track record on complex programmes and a commitment to collaborative delivery models such as Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) and Modified Design Build (MDB), we are seeking experienced professionals who share our vision for excellence in defence infrastructure. Prior experience with Defence Construction Canada (DCC) and DND projects, bilingual proficiency in English and French, and the ability to obtain or hold a Reliability and Secret security clearance are essential assets for candidates ready to contribute to Canada's most significant defence initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Develop and update architectural specifications to meet CSC/CCDC standards and client needs.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, and project managers to ensure specifications match design requirements.
• Review and maintain master specifications, following Canadian best practices.
• Ensure compliance with the National Building Code of Canada and provincial codes.
• Manage specification schedules for timely tender and construction delivery.
• Prepare clear and accurate specification packages for tendering.
• Address specification queries during bidding and construction.
• Incorporate addenda and changes into specifications quickly and accurately.
• Organize and maintain specification records on SharePoint and project drives.
• Guide and train project teams on specification practices and document control.
• Take part in quality assurance reviews for specification accuracy.
• Support improvements and lessons learned in specification processes.

Qualification

• Registered Specification Writer (RSW) designation through Construction Specifications Canada (mandatory or in progress).
• Proven experience in specification writing within architecture, engineering, or construction sectors.
• Strong knowledge of Canadian building codes, standards, and industry practices (CSC, CCDC, NMS).
• Excellent technical writing skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365, SharePoint, and specification software (e.g., NMS, BSD Speclink).
• Ability to interpret design intent and translate it into clear, compliant specifications.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills for multidisciplinary team environments.
• Familiarity with tendering processes and construction documentation protocols.
• Bilingualism (English and French) considered an asset.
• Ability to obtain Reliability and Secret level security clearance (mandatory).

Compensation

• AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT:
  $69,700 – $92,300
• MB & ON:
  $63,600 – $87,500
• NB, NL, NS, PEI & QC:
  $62,900 – $83,600
