Position Summary:


The Spiritual Care Practitioner is responsible to provide professional, compassionate emotional and spiritual care to patients, their families and staff at Trillium Health Partners.


Job Description**:


  • Provides spiritual care to patients, families and staff through spiritual assessment, supportive intervention, and counselling
  • Acts as a consultant for end of life decisionmaking and ethical issues and for information of a wide variety of faith practices as they relate to healthcare and end of life issues
  • Participates as a team member to enhance the continuity of care of patients by attending interprofessional rounds and other patient consultations when requested
  • Ensures best practices in religious and spiritual care
  • Establishes positive working relationships with all members of the healthcare team, as well as with the volunteers and visitors
  • Regularly offers inservice programs for staff
  • Engages with community resources to provide appropriate spiritual and religious care for patients of all faiths
  • Understands the multifaith community in Mississauga and Peel
  • Performs other duties as assigned and that relate to the mission and values of Trillium Health Partners.

Qualifications:


  • Masters of Theology/Divinity required
  • Knowledge of Eastern religions and faith practices and experience in working in an Eastern faith community setting
  • Registration in good standing with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario or other Regulatory College
  • Certified member in CASC
  • CPE 4 units; or combination of equivalent education and relevant experience preferred
  • Credentialing by a religious body required
  • Current certification by Ontario Multi-Faith Council preferred
