Position Summary:

The Assistant Product Manager works with Johnston and Konstant management to support the overall product and supplier strategy.

This role will focus on assisting in the overall supplier selection, management, and reporting for sub-contract and 3rd party supplier partners.

In this role, you will deliver exceptional customer service, answering all stakeholder questions and concerns regarding product selection, and assist Sellers in making the most informed product choice possible.

You will demonstrate your technical knowledge of our various product options in a friendly and helpful manner, treat business partners (internal and external) with the utmost respect, and follow up with them, making every effort to drive business growth.

This role will also be responsible for supporting supplier growth and onboarding within the growing Automated Systems portfolio.


How You'll Make an Impact


In this role, You will be in continuous contact with our management, sales, and suppliers, promoting our breadth of products and services, while receiving feedback to ensure we continuously evaluate our offerings.

Activity A Vendor Management (50%)

  • Build and maintain relationships with vendors with the vision of supporting product launches, training needs, and management of support materials
  • Monthly reporting vendor growth while monitoring their performance for specified metrics
  • Monitor and update the capability and leadtime matrix to ensure all vendor data is current. Communicate changes as and when required to appropriate internal departments
  • Relay quote responses to Konstant, SSG, and Automated Systems sellers and work with the sellers to select the best vendor and manage the order placement of all jobs
  • Act as the primary conduit for all questions and requests between from the SSG, Konstant, and Automated Systems selling groups
  • Maintain and issue monthly reporting that analyzes trends and highlights actions for process and / or strategy improvements from a product perspective

Activity B Product Management (40%)

  • Maintain indepth knowledge of products, solutions, and company offerings within Automated Systems, Konstant, and SSG
  • Develop and track metrics to assess the success of products and determine necessary enhancements or corrective action(s)
  • Work with internal parties (Procurement and Legal) to ensure New Product Introduction (NPI) process is followed and new products are thoroughly evaluated and vetted with support of the National Product Manager
  • Ensure product launches, promotions and campaigns for targeted product lines and services are rolled out to the selling community with sufficient supporting materials to aid sellers in the field

Activity C Reporting and Analysis - 10%

  • Track, and deliver all relevant reports to communicate the departments performance
  • Assist and partake in ongoing business reviews with key vendors
  • Act as central repository of tracking quotations, leadtimes, discounting, and additional requirements

What You'll Bring to the Table

  • Experience in the distribution industry and minimum 2 years sales/vendor management experience.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to persuade, influence and/or negotiate with internal/external clients
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Well organized, able to communicate effectively and collaborate with others, strong problem solving and time management skills;
