Discover more about potash at Nutrien An exciting intern opportunity awaits a motivated student at beginning May 2024 for approxiamtely 4-months with opportunities at Cory and Vanscoy sites. This is a temporary, full-time, hourly-paid position open to current students who will be returning to their studies once this work term is complete. This position is not available for remote work.

This position reports into the Sr Advisor, Operational Excellence - ETC.

What you will do:


  • Work with underground operations/maintenance departments to observe, capture and understand activities and workflows to provide insights into opportunities to improve and optimize processes, mining sequences and related tasks
  • Interface with operators, maintenance trades people, engineers and supervisors to accurately collect operating and downtime information
  • Synthesize mining knowledge and best practices across Nutrien Potash production sites into a report

What you will bring:


  • Must be currently enrolled and completed at least 2 years of an undergraduate engineering, geology, applied science and/or business operations program (or equivalent) at an accredited postsecondary institution AND returning to fulltime studies after the work term.
  • Ability to work 24/7 shift work 12 hour rotations both days and nights
  • Demonstrated positive safety behaviour and safety leadership
  • Willingness to learn and gain knowledge and experience through training and interaction with Nutrien personnel
  • Proficient using Microsoft Excel to organize and analyze data
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, leadership, and stakeholder relationship skills
  • Exceptional organizational skills with rigorous attention to detail and record keeping
