    Description

    The School of Health and Human Services is seeking one instructor for the Practical Nursing Diploma Program to teach in the clinical practice setting. Instructors support Selkirk College's mission through effective teaching and evaluation of students, by developing and maintaining excellent curriculum, participating in College life, engaging in professional development activities and maintaining positive relationships with colleagues and other members of the College and our communities as a whole.

    Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide face-to-face instruction of theory and lab courses and be available for student consultation.
  • Supervise and support practice education for Practical Nursing Program students in acute and community care settings.
  • Provide ongoing written and verbal feedback to students.
  • Evaluate student progress and provide constructive feedback.
  • Foster practice partner and College relationships.
  • Communicate with practice partners to ensure a common understanding of the learning outcomes of the practice course.
  • Participate in instructional team meeting.

  • Excellent classroom, lab and clinical management skills.

  • Education and Experience

  • The instructional requirements for an instructor in the PN program at Selkirk College will meet or exceed the educational requirements in the PNPPC. The educational requirements to teach in the PN program will be a BSN (RN) or RPN, registration with BCCNM, 2 or 3 years of teaching experience and completion of the BC Provincial Instructors Diploma.
  • Applicants with LPN, registration with BCCNM, 2 or 3 years of teaching experience and completion of the BC Provincial Instructors Diploma will be considered in combination with relevant experience and training. Instructor qualifications, registration with BCCNM and references confirmed in advance of an offer of employment.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Current and relevant work experience in LTC, community and acute care
  • Please Note: Candidates must be able to demonstrate compliance with PHO orders with respect to COVID-19 vaccine requirements.

    This is a non-regular, part-time (89%) position commencing July 2, 2024, and ending September 16, 2024, or upon the return of the incumbent. Salary and benefits are in accordance with the BCGEU Collective Agreement, Appendix A. The salary range is $2, $4, at a 100% appointment) bi-weekly based on qualifications and experience.
