Investment and Retirement Planning Associate - Vancouver Downtown


What is the opportunity?


As an Investment and Retirement Planning (IRP) Associate, you provide direct client and sales support to the Financial Planners, Investment and Retirement Planning, to enable them to focus on planning, advice activities and acquisition of new clients.

You contribute to a differentiated client experience by providing value added support and problem resolution.

In this role, you collaborate with partners across the organization to identify and meet client needs and goals and expand the network of your team.

As a member of the Financial Planning, Investment and Retirement Planning Team, you bring innovative ideas to grow market share and enrich the success of the team.

There is flexibility to work 30 hours a week. The work environment is your home office however you must be available to work from the branch when needed.


Mandarin and Cantonese Language Skills (Fluency) Required.

What will you do?

  • Enable Financial Planners, Investment and Retirement Planning, by assisting with preparations for client meetings, and supporting the fulfilment of simple investment solutions and referrals to appropriate partners
  • Provide support to client requests, act as a point of contact for client concerns, and ensure accuracy of documentation with followups, as required
  • Leverage routines to ensure efficient and effective completion of client tasks, identifying areas for improvement to realize efficiencies
  • Maximize opportunities to effectively identify client needs, make referrals, acquire new investment clients and assets, and track and review progress against the teams' annual plan
  • Exercise due diligence in following all policies and procedures, and identity/correct areas of operational risk
  • Support Financial Planners, Investment and Retirement Planning, with administrative activities and proactive client contact

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Mutual Funds accreditation (e.g., Investment Funds in Canada, or the Canadian Securities Course)
  • Previous experience in investments
  • Demonstrated success working in a fast paced environment with the ability to manage competing priorities, as well as multitasking and problemsolving skills
  • IT literacy including the Microsoft Office suite of products, and digital knowledge
  • Flexibility, eagerness to learn, strong personal ethics, and a hunger for success
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment, demonstrating strong collaboration skills
  • Mandarin and Cantonese language skills (fluency)

Nice-to-have

  • Proven track record of building rapport and developing client relationships
  • Experience in proactive retail sales
