About the position

Kitchen Assistant

  • Responsible for portioning, preparing, and serving all snack items and meals to the children
  • Responsible for handling and preparing special meals and snacks for all allergen children, vegetarians, and any other special dietary needs labelled from the Commissary kitchen.
  • Ensure safe food storage and disposal of all food.
  • Complies with all health and hygiene requirements under all food safety and handling legislation.
  • Cleaning and sanitizing appliances, utensils, kitchenware, counters, cupboards, & drawers.
  • Moping and sweeping floors after every meal; remove trash and recyclable materials at the end of each shift.
  • Required to prepare food for field trips, schoolage programs, and community events at times.

Early Childhood Educator Assistant

  • Provides nurturing care to young children in a group setting
  • Cover breaks for classroom lead teachers
  • Assists in all areas of implementation of enriched programs in accordance with curriculum objectives, developmentally appropriate practice and program philosophy
  • Works with the team in the classroom to provide excellent supervision and interaction with children at all times, including in all classrooms, sleep rooms, outside/walking and playground activities
  • Help children learn and grow with our personalized curriculum
  • Assist children in activities
  • Duties and responsibilities may change from time to time on the needs of the childcare centres.

Specifications

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate at all levels with children, parents and coworkers.
  • Ability to utilize computer systems for all documentation, reporting, and classroom operations
  • Strong collaborator and team player
  • Ability to take the initiative in and out of the classroom
  • Strong problemsolving skills

Qualifications

  • Food Handler Certification
  • ECA experience (
    preferred)
  • Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Valid Standard First Aid and CPR Level C
  • Immunization records up to date
  • Ability to push, pull and lift up to 45 pounds
