**Banquet Supervisor

Banquet Supervisor you will:

See and help execute the Banquet Manager's Vision - ensuring the smooth operation of all banquet events, following the BEO and communicating to those who need to know what it is the event planner/your manager expects and - in the absence of the manager - be the point person for calculating the final banquet check and presenting it to the client for approval/signature/payment. Also assisting with the selection/training/supervising of the team so they can deliver the vision.

Take Ownership - if your manager is not available be the go to person so if anything goes contrary to plan, you are taking personal ownership and making right what you can as soon as you can so feedback is positive your property's reputation as the banquet location of choice is enhanced. Thereafter be sure you are communicating the challenges encountered to your manager so they can be addressed/fixed/avoided in the future.

Be a Cheerleader -inspiring the service staff with your "can do" attitude and creating an environment which is motivating and engaging so everyone strives to do their best is a key role.

Be an Organizer - in this role you may be asked to accurately calculate and prepare daily gratuities and payroll for the Controller and will be a contributor to the budgeting process.

Be a Safety & Security Agent - follow your hotel's established safety and security policies & procedures. Anticipate problems and call management as needed. A current ServSafe certificate/alcohol certification is required.


Requirements:


Job Summary:


The Primary function of the Banquet Supervisor is to oversee all areas of food and beverage coordination for events at our property and assist the Banquet Manager in exceeding expectations of our diverse clientele through efficient delivery of the banquet services.


Accountabilities and Functions:


The Banquet Supervisor is also responsible for assisting with the training of new associates; assisting with and delegation of the work load, addressing and acting on concerns in a professional and timely manner.

The Supervisor ensures all materials and tools are provided and being used correctly and observes associates for proper procedures, guest interaction and safe work practices.

Maintain detailed records and accurate information with respect to cost reporting. The Banquet Supervisor must also promote health and safety awareness, complying and promoting rules, policies and procedures. Hold pre-function meetings, and check staffing, event orders, menus prior to events and ensure all requirements are in place.


This includes:

  • All required equipment is available and working for events.
  • Give job assignments/ stations assigned to team.
  • Responsible for the requisition and return of all alcohol.
  • Liaise actively with the culinary team.
  • Monitor all ongoing functions throughout shift.
  • Assist servers throughout function.
  • Supervise cleanup.
  • Prepare Supervisor's reports as required.
  • Interviewing, training and scheduling as required.
  • Knowledge of all hotel policies.
  • Maintain cleanliness of banquet areas.
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications:


  • At least 2 years of progressive experience in an upscale hotel or a related field required.
  • Previous Food & Beverage experience required
  • Previous Banquet experience required
  • Previous supervisory responsibility required
  • Experience in leading in a unionized environment an asset
  • Familiarity work room set up requirements, current trends
  • Able to work in a computerized environment.
  • High School diploma preferred.
  • Must be able to stand/walk for long periods of time.
