INSTRUCTOR III – FITNESS
PROGRAM ATTENDANT II – WEIGHT ROOM
Up to 8 Casual Positions
All four of Saanich's recreation facilities (Saanich Commonwealth Place, Gordon Head Recreation Centre, Cedar Hill Recreation Centre and G.R. Pearkes Recreation Centre) are seeking certified Fitness staff who ensure that participants are acting in accordance to facility rules and that the facility and equipment are in safe, working condition. Fitness staff will be responsible for providing leadership for fitness programs. This may include planning and preparing assigned programs; instructing assigned classes; evaluating participants; record keeping and public relations.
Requirements for the Instructor III include completion of Grade 10; three months experience in fitness instruction; certification and training in area of instruction, in accordance with Industry Standards; Emergency First-Aid and CPR "C" as required; and a Satisfactory Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Check.
Requirements for the Program Attendant II include completion of Grade 10; one month experience in weight room supervision; certification related to weight room supervision, in accordance with Industry Standards; Emergency First-Aid and CPR "C" as required; and a Satisfactory Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Check.
Successful candidates will be required to work varying shifts, primarily evenings and weekends (hours/shifts are subject to change).
These are C.U.P.E. Local 2011 positions with a wage of $29.51 per hour for the Instructor III position and $24.14 for the Program Attendant II position, plus 15% in lieu of benefits. Job descriptions and competition information can be found at
