    Description

    An employee-owned Canadian General Contractor with a national presence is currently looking to hire a Senior Estimator with extensive Industrial, Commercial, and institutional (ICI) project experience.

    In business for over 25 years, this established firm offers Construction Management and General Contracting Services across Canada.

    Based in Toronto, the job of the Senior Estimator is to develop estimates and budgets for hard bid, design/build, and construction management proposals based on construction drawings and specifications and submit proposals on a timely basis.

    In this job you will participate in the development of estimating models, tools, and best practices, be involved in quantity take-offs, sub trade/supplier tender packages and risk assessment, and work with project managers to draft project schedules.

    The Senior Estimator will participate in contract evaluation and be responsible for preparation of relevant contract documents, as well as review all tender documentation and drawings, be accountable for accuracy and timeliness of tender submissions, coordinate and/or attend pre-bid meetings and reviews and approves all bid packages before submission to client.

    To qualify for the Senior Estimator job, you must possess a minimum of 5 years of construction estimating experience within the Toronto construction market.

    You will have a solid relationship with local trades, sub-trades, and consultants. To be effective, you will have an extensive knowledge of a variety of estimating methods and techniques. You should have a strong understanding of Canadian construction contracts and scheduling and all phases of a construction project.

    This includes contract administration, procurement, material control, economics, accounting, labour laws, and have a working knowledge of Ontario laws and building codes.

    Finally, excellent communication skills and strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), MS Project, and estimating software is a must.
