The Opportunity


The _
SR&ED / QA Coordinator _is a multi-faceted role, responsible for internal, cross-departmental project management of Mitchell Press/Mitchell Digital's annual SR&ED program submission.

The position, reporting to the Vice President, Operations, helps to maximize SR&ED income tax credits while identifying potential Quality Assurance non-compliance issues and creating follow-up actions.


SR&ED responsibilities include:


  • Work with internal stakeholders to identify and monitor eligible SR&ED activities.
  • Prepare technical project briefs, including the technical objectives, state of knowledge, deviation from standard practice, and steps carried out in an experimental process.
  • Create and maintain a central, accessible SR&ED documentation repository to track ongoing SR&ED projects and potential future projects.
  • Review various sources of documentation to identify areas of potential SR&ED including:
  • R&D projects, experimental projects, recurring production issues.
  • Engage directly with departmental team members (shop floor, press/equipment operators, supervisors, etc.) leading discussions regarding current/future SR&ED projects.
  • Host training and information sessions with team members to identify and create awareness of what type of work qualifies for SR&ED.
  • Act as the primary point of contact with SR&ED Consultants during claim preparation process.
  • Report SR&ED project progress, findings, and summaries to Executive Team.
  • QA/QC duties such as participating in paper/press trials, recording test parameters, test procedures, recording observations, interpreting results.
  • Research existing, publicly available information and review internal expertise regarding issues that are under active investigation.
  • Undertake special projects as assigned by your direct supervisor.

Quality Assurance Responsibilities include:


  • Analyze print production to ensure that customer expectations are met.
  • Identify and recommend procedural changes for improving product manufacturing process and staff training.
  • Provide recommendations to the Leadership and Executive teams on how to improve quality assurance methodologies.
  • Work with production, providing guidance and procedures to identify deviations from quality standards, including remediation actions.
  • Provide documentation and analysis of QA noncompliance issues.
  • Oversee review and development of enhanced procedures to identify deviations from quality standards.
  • Inspect the final product, compare it to the requirements, and approve or reject the final product.
  • Gain feedback from stakeholders, attend meetings, submit reports, and assist external auditors and inspectors.
  • Continuously finding ways to improve the manufacturing process.

Qualifications:


  • Experience in business administration may be advantageous.

SR&ED Coordinator

  • Experience with one of the industries: Software, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, Commercial Printing.
  • Experience with SR&ED Audit an asset.

Quality Assurance Coordinator Qualifications:


  • Indepth knowledge of quality control procedures and legal standards.
  • Solid understanding of LEAN manufacturing methodology.
Salary range $60,000 - $65,000/year
