  • As a Door and Lock Technician you will provide lock and key services, door maintenance and gate maintenance to the Calgary Police service (CPS)

Primary duties include:

  • Create keys, rekey lock cores, and maintain door hardware (including maintenance of all door hardware, locksets, handles, latches, hinges, door closers, sweeps, strikes, and installation of new doors).
  • Perform preventative maintenance of holding cell doors, and security barriers.
  • Schedule and perform annual, semiannual, and monthly checks of arrestee holding room and security hardware.
  • Document, record, and file Check Sheets.
  • Complete gate repairs and maintenance including physical inspection of all CPS gates.
  • Liaise with contractors on escalated issues as required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (e.g. GED) with at least 3 years of experience in Locksmithing and/or Door Maintenance.
  • Familiarity with key tracking software (AiM, Simple K) is required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel) is required.
  • Trade certification as a Journeyperson Locksmith, and/or provincial licensing will be considered an asset.
  • Competencies for this position include coaching and development, communication, efficiency and thoroughness, planning and prioritizing/visionary; relationship building, and service orientation.

Pre-employment Requirements

  • An enhanced security clearance will be conducted.
  • Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications. Education obtained from out of country must have or be able to obtain, an Education Credential Assessment (ECA) for confirmation of equivalent credentials.

Pre-employment Drug Test:An offer of employment for this position will be conditional on an applicant passing a pre-employment drug test. This test assesses for use of drugs including cannabis. Failure to pass a pre-employment drug test may prevent an applicant from being hired into any safety sensitive position for a period of up to twelve months.
