Darlington project site is looking for a dedicated, results-oriented and professional
Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator to join our team.

SUMMARY OF ROLE:


The Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator will be responsible for implementing, monitoring and enforcing the Company Health and Safety policies and programs, ensuring safe working procedures and regulatory compliance on company work sites and facilities.


KEY CUSTOMERS SERVED

  • Area Managers, Project Managers, Supervisors and all other Company Management
  • Employees

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND/OR SERVICES PROVIDED

  • Implements and oversees site safety program through continuous onsite monitoring during field execution
  • Liaises with management and labour to ensure that the highest level of due diligence is maintained
  • Provides counsel and advice to Company management on all health and safetyrelated matters
  • Coordinates and attends onsite health and safety meetings
  • Provides site Health and Safety training, indoctrination, orientation to employees
  • Provides WHMIS training
  • Thoroughly investigates accidents/incidents
  • Generates H&S statistics and provides regular reports in a prescribed format, to the Environmental Health and Safety Manager, Nuclear Services
  • Performs weekly documented site inspections and monthly safety audits
  • Maintains daily/weekly/monthly work activity logbooks
  • Maintains safety records and documents
  • Maintains record of all safety and site information used to provide statistics, charts, reports etc.
  • Ensures compliance with OHSA and all other relevant H&S related legislation and regulations
  • Ensures management remains aware of any potential H&S related issues that may negatively impact the business
  • Works with management and employees to develop and implement appropriate return to work and modified work programs
  • Maintains zero tolerance for on the job safety infractions
  • Ensures responsibilities and accountabilities are carried out in a safe manner in accordance with E.S. Fox Limited safety policy/procedures, ISO standards and OHSA requirements
  • Ensures that environmental aspects within his/her sphere of responsibility are adhered to pursuant to ISO 14001 requirements
  • Some travel between project sites may be required
  • Ability to work afternoon/night shifts, as required

KNOWLEDGE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Post secondary education (Degree in Management or Occupational Health & Safety) is an asset
  • NCSO (National Construction Safety Officer) designation preferred
  • CRSP (Canadian Registered Safety Professional) or CRST (Canadian Registered Safety Technician) designation optional
  • Current knowledge of OHSA, WSIB, Construction and Industrial Safety Regulations
  • Current CPR and Standard First Aid training certification
  • WHMIS, Working at Heights, Lock-Out/Tag-Out, Confined Space and TDG training

SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE OR SKILLS
years of related experience working in a health and safety role in a construction
