Job Overview

The Electrical Assembly Floor Support Technician works to providing technical expertise and guidance to the assembly floor team in troubleshooting electrical issues and ensuring proper installation procedures.

This role involves working closely with production staff, engineers, and managers to ensure the efficient assembly of electrical components and systems.

By supporting, educating and training Assembly Workers, the team is better able to deliver on a "done-right-the-first-time" basis.

Their work ensures that Tornado trucks meet the company's high standards and customers receive the quality vehicle they have come to expect.

Key Responsibility Areas

Electrical Troubleshooting:


  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical problems that arise during the assembly process.
  • Analyze circuitry, wiring, and electrical systems to identify and resolve issues promptly.
  • Collaborate with the assembly team to find practical solutions to complex electrical problems.

Software Installation and Configuration:


  • Uploading software and firmware to control panels, HMIs and wireless systems.
  • Parameter configuration of Heavyduty truck chassis, engines and transmissions.
  • Refinement and/or calibration of control systems.

Guidance in Installation:


  • Provide guidance and supervision during the installation of electrical components and systems.
  • Ensure that installations comply with relevant codes, standards, and safety regulations.
  • Train assembly floor staff in proper installation techniques and best practices.

Process Improvement:


  • Identify areas for process improvement in the assembly and installation procedures.
  • Collaborate with engineers and other departments to develop and implement more efficient and effective assembly methods.
  • Conduct regular evaluations of current processes and recommend changes to enhance productivity and quality.

Quality Assurance:


  • Perform quality checks and tests on electrical assemblies at various stages of production to ensure they meet company specifications and standards.
  • Implement quality control measures to minimize defects and rework.
  • Work with the quality assurance team to address any recurring issues and implement preventive measures.

Documentation:


  • Maintain detailed records of troubleshooting activities, installation procedures, and solutions implemented.
  • Create and update documentation related to electrical assemblies and installations.
  • Prepare reports on the performance of electrical systems and recommend improvements.

Collaboration:


  • Collaborate with design engineers to provide feedback on the design for ease of assembly and installation.
  • Work closely with production managers to coordinate assembly schedules and priorities.
  • Communicate effectively with crossfunctional teams to resolve issues and improve overall workflow.

Projects / Other Assignments:


  • Works on related projects or initiatives as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:


  • Training or certification in Electrical Trades, Technology or Engineering would be an asset.

Experience

  • Knowledge of 12volt DC electrical systems, circuits, and components.
  • Experience in troubleshooting electrical issues in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
  • Familiarity with relevant codes, standards, and safety regulations.
  • Adept at using Windows and Office 365 Applications.
  • Experience working with electrical diagrams is required.
