    Brandt is currently looking for a Technical Publications Lead in our Regina location. The Technical Publications Lead will oversee the team responsible for developing all technical manuals (Operators manuals, Service manuals, Installation manuals, etc.) for Brandt's diverse range of manufactured products. This position will play a pivotal role in ensuring the timely completion of manuals and spearheading a comprehensive strategy for delivering these manuals to customers. The ideal candidate should possess a solid understanding of technical writing, project management, and a strategic mindset geared toward enabling a positive customer experience with our product documentation.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Effectively manage and prioritize tasks to achieve a completed suite of technical manuals in accordance with the product development schedule.
  • Oversee all technical manual versions to accurately align all support documentation to the appropriate product builds.
  • Develop standardized templates across all manual types, maintaining consistent structure and formatting for an enhanced user experience.
  • Align the structure and content of our manuals with the OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) manuals for our converted OEM machine products.
  • Perform high-level document editing to meet Brandt's established standards.
  • Formulate policies to strategically define the type, structure, and content of technical manuals for each product type.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive distribution strategy for all types of manuals.
  • Formulate document translation strategies in line with regional product launch plans, collaborating with external vendors, such as language services providers, to ensure high-quality translations and localized content.
  • Identify employee training needs and requirements, equipping team members to adapt to new tools, technologies, and distribution methods.
  • Collaborate closely with product development teams to gain in-depth knowledge of new products and technologies, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information is reflected in the manuals.
  • Lead efforts to gather user feedback on documentation quality and usability, using this feedback to guide improvements and updates.
  • Maintain a centralized repository for all technical manual documentation, providing easy access for internal teams and dealers.
  • Coordinate with training teams to seamlessly align training materials with technical manual documentation.
  • Implement change management processes to ensure documentation remains current and accurate as products evolve.
  • Oversee the creation of training documents, such as Operator Training and Service Training materials, for new products to facilitate effective dealer and in-house training.

  • Required Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication, Engineering, or a related field is preferred. Candidates with relevant industry experience and technical heavy equipment knowledge will also be considered.
  • Familiarity with product development lifecycles and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with Adobe FrameMaker would be considered an asset
