SAM Hotels, a division of NOVA Hotels is looking for an energetic and dynamic Area Sales Manager to oversee the Sales functions across their 6 hotels spanning Alberta and Saskatchewan.


Principle Purpose of Job:


Sales Manager is responsible to achieve hotel revenue, profit and customer satisfaction goals by negotiating group business and coordinating the execution of the business with other departments.


The primary focus in this position will be to source and solidify business from companies with whom are travelling to the areas in which the hotels are located.

The "home base" for this position will be out of the Saskatoon inn & Conference Centre.

Key Job Responsibilities:


  • Grow and develop long standing relationships with key contacts within assigned segment across all properties
  • Create and execute strategic action plans in pursuit of short
- and long-term goals.

  • Develop and maintain accounts by consistent, proactive and targeted sales initiatives.
  • Prospect for new accounts by conducting out of office sales calls at a minimum of twice monthly.
  • Prepare and present unique and personalized proposals and handle rate negotiations using revenue management tools. Ensure all proposals are properly targeted and contain distinctions from our competitors that have value on the clients' eyes.
  • Generate leads by contacting and servicing key target accounts within market and work with sales team to maximize leads and coordinate new projects.
  • Secure business through prospecting, networking, presentations, and sales calls, aggressively target the business according to the hotel's goals.
  • Create and implement sales procedures to create an efficient sales process
  • Prepares proposals, rate negotiations, block space, processing of contracts for groups and following up to secure the business
  • Maintain accurate records and client history in Delphi. Compiling and managing database with all account information
  • Attend industry events, educational workshops, trade shows, and company sponsored conferences/events outside normal business hours.
  • Maintaining positive client relations by means of frequent conversations to help anticipate client needs.
  • Compiling and analyzing reports to meet overall results, goals
  • Understand wholesaler rates and procedures, as well as the hotel's strategy for
  • Compiling and analyzing related industry and hotels
  • Conduct site inspections for clients
  • Assist Senior Area Sales Manager in the strategic planning of budgets and sales
  • Develops and maintains favorable working relationships and open communication with all departments
  • Develop strong relationships with on property front office team to ensure working in unity and always striving to achieve the same goals.
  • Ability to accurately use various office software such as Salesforce and Opera
  • Attending all department and hotel meetings as necessary.
  • Preparation of weekly sales reports
  • Communicate internally with the sales team, Event Services, Rooms division, and other departments where appropriate, to ensure the customer's needs are met.
  • The Sales Manager is the primary contact with the client, and performs normal account management in this role, including establishing billing details and troubleshooting billing issues, and follow up on service issues; internally and externally.
  • Any other duties and projects as assigned.

Requirements:


  • University or college degree in Hotel Management/Business Administration is preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of sales management experience with proven track record in the hospitality industry.
  • Knowledge of Hotel and Tourism industry is an asset
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with Delphi and/or Opera is an asset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organization skills and commitment to superior customer service.
  • Strong negotiating and prospecting skills
  • Must have ability to work under mínimal supervision and with priority deadlines.
  • Experience in setting and meeting achievementoriented goals and standards.
  • Ability to prioritize and to meet deadlines.

  • Must have a valid driver's license, willing to work flexible hours and be available to travel at a minimum of once monthly
