Your Opportunity


Under general direction of the Assistant Director, the HR Consultant will support the operational and strategic human resource needs of academic Departments, Centres, Institutes, Schools, Colleges and programs within the Faculty of Arts & Science portfolio.


The incumbent will work closely with the Assistant Director, to support new, creative strategic initiatives and special projects and to guide junior staff.


This role is currently eligible for a hybrid work arrangement, pursuant to University policies and guidelines, including but not limited to the University of Toronto's Alternative Work Arrangements Guideline.


Essential Qualifications
Education

  • University degree in a relevant discipline and course work in the Human Resources field leading to the completion of the CHRL designation, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience:


  • Minimum five (5) years progressively responsible and related human resource experience.
  • Demonstrated experience developing strategy, providing expertise and overall management to complex restructuring activities.
  • Demonstrated experience with unionized and nonunionized job evaluation, compensation and recruitment methodology and practices.
  • Sound knowledge of human resources best practices and employment related legislation.

  • Proactive and energetic customerservice orientation with an awareness of and sensitivity to diversity.
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple and conflicting priorities within tight deadlines.
  • Superior verbal and written communication, facilitation and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills, demonstrated ability to identify, gather information and data, present options and partner with clients to effectively and creatively resolve complex human resource matters.
  • Excellent judgement; strong initiative and ability to work independently.
  • Tact, empathy and confidentiality in dealing with difficult or sensitive situations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of the Faculty of Arts & Science, Human Resources Office.
