Who is Bonavista? Bonavista is a medium size oil and natural gas company that started in 1997 with operations focused primarily in Alberta.

Our head office is located in Calgary Alberta, and we have two smaller offices located around Edson Alberta and around the South Caroline area of Alberta to assist with our field operation staff.

Currently Bonavista employs just over 150 employees with additional contract operators across our operations.

Duties and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Responsible for area drilling operations with respect to geologic oversight and geosteering
  • Work closely with engineering, operations, land, and geophysical counterparts to ensure timely execution of the budget
  • Evaluate and make recommendations for Crown or freehold acquisitions
  • Provide geological support for all A&D activity (asset and corporate deals) in the area

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor of Science (Geology) degree, with at least 7 years' experience in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin
  • A proven track record of adding cost effective production and reserves
  • Experience with well operations including design, planning, and drilling operations is crucial
  • Demonstrated strengths in log interpretation, core analyses, and play generation
  • Motivated with strong business skills
  • Enjoys working in a resultsfocused environment
  • Demonstrates handson accountability for their work
  • Strong geological thinker who can integrate geological, geophysical, and engineering data to identify and develop well thought out prospects/plays
