    Unit Summary

    **Note: Posted wage rates are as of April, 2022. HHS is currently in negotiations to renew our Collective Agreement with OPSEU Local 273. Any increases to wage rates that may come as a result of negotiations, will be retroactively applied once negotiations are completed, and a new agreement has been finalized.**

    The Hamilton Regional Laboratory Medicine Program (HRLMP) is a collaborative program funded and operated jointly by the Hamilton Health Sciences and St. Joseph's Hospital. The Program is committed to change and innovation, through education, service and research, to bring the highest quality science into health care for the benefit of the community, and to participate in the clinical application and interpretation of the science.

    Position Summary

    Under general supervision and direction, the technologist will perform a variety of laboratory procedures accurately, efficiently and safely while maintaining quality control and prioritizing workload. Duties include: processing, interpretation and reporting results for Microbiology specimens as per established policies and procedures.

    days, afternoons, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays

    Qualifications

    1. Current Registration with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO)
    2. Successful completion of an accredited MLT program
    3. Recent experience in Microbiology required within last 5 years; to include proficiency in reading Gram stained smears, recognition of colonial morphology, identification of pathogens and reporting of susceptibility testing results.
    4. Demonstrated knowledge of bio-safety principles.
    5. Excellent communication, organizational and problem- solving skills

    As a condition of employment, you are required to submit proof of full COVID-19 vaccination to Employee Health Services.
