About the Opportunity:

Reporting to the Assistive Technology Program Manager, and under the direction of the Occupational Therapy Assistants and Occupational Therapists, the Wheelchair Service Technician is responsible for the mechanical assembly and disassembly, cleaning and general maintenance of the seating and mobility equipment (e.g. wheelchairs, wheelchair cushions, components and accessories).

The Wheelchair Service Technician is responsible for transporting seating and mobility equipment between all sites, specifically between the wheelchair areas (the Rehab) to/from various locations throughout the QEII Health Sciences Centre site.

The Wheelchair Service Technician is responsible for patient equipment and departmental preparations, assisting the Occupational Therapist/Occupational Therapy Assistant with the management of supplies and equipment and entering workload statistics.

The Wheelchair Service Technician may be required to provide services throughout the Rehabilitation and Supportive Care Services Portfolio. Travel to other sites may be required.


About You:

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Grade XII or equivalent
  • One year experience utilizing power and manual tools
  • Ability to perform mechanical tasks associated with wheelchair assembly/disassembly
  • Experience with wheelchair assembly/disassembly
  • Working knowledge of computers
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Commitment to confidentiality and protection of clients' personal health information and an understanding of related policies and best practices
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours:


  • Long assignment; Fulltime position; 75 hours biweekly.
  • Approximately a 6month assignment.

Compensation and Incentives:

$ $21.58 Hourly
