Overview

  • Lafarge in Saskatoon is seeking an experienced
    Base Crew Foreperson to join our asphalt paving crew. As a
    Base Crew Foreperson, you will oversee the construction and maintenance of foundational elements for various projects. We are looking for a dedicated individual who can effectively manage and coordinate crew members to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.

Responsibilities:


Project Planning and Coordination:


  • Plan and organize daily tasks and schedules for base crew personnel to meet project deadlines and objectives.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment of project goals and requirements.

Crew Supervision and Leadership:


  • Lead and motivate base crew personnel, providing guidance, training, and support as needed.
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities to crew members, ensuring work is distributed evenly and completed according to specifications.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback to crew members to foster professional growth and development.

Quality Assurance and Compliance:


  • Ensure all work performed by the base crew meets quality standards and complies with project specifications, safety regulations, and company policies.
  • Conduct inspections and quality control checks on base construction activities, identifying and addressing any issues or discrepancies promptly.

Equipment Management:


  • Manage and maintain construction equipment and tools, ensuring they are in good working condition and properly utilized by crew members.
  • Coordinate equipment logistics, including rentals, deliveries, and maintenance schedules, to support efficient project operations.

Safety and Risk Management:


  • Promote a culture of safety among base crew personnel, emphasizing the importance of adhering to safety protocols and practices at all times.
  • Conduct regular safety meetings and inspections to identify and mitigate potential hazards on job sites.
  • Take proactive measures to address safety concerns and incidents, ensuring the wellbeing of crew members and compliance with safety regulations.

Qualification

Experience:


  • Previous experience in a supervisory role within the construction industry, preferably with experience in base construction operations.
  • Proven track record of effectively leading and managing construction crews to achieve project goals and objectives.

Skills:


  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire team members to achieve excellence.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction plans, specifications, and blueprints.
  • Sound decisionmaking abilities, with the capacity to resolve conflicts and make critical decisions under pressure.

Requirements:


  • Comprehensive understanding of construction safety regulations and protocols.
  • Physical stamina and ability to perform manual labor as needed in various weather conditions.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and travel to different job sites as required.
