- Education of point-of-care staff and practice development, including clinical externs, new graduate nurses, clinical scholarship mentors, and internationally educated nurses.
- Advance professional practice within clinical areas by contributing to the development of high-performing interprofessional clinical teams.
- Assess and develop clinical and leadership skills of point-of-care staff in collaboration with program leadership, unit managers and advanced practice clinical leaders.
- Focus areas: scope of practice issues; interprofessional care planning; application of best practices at the point-of-care; and individual clinician and clinical team development.
- Apply knowledge of best practices in teaching/learning for clinical staff, education development and delivery, in the care of adults with acute and complex mental illnesses and concurrent medical/addiction disorders.
- Support education initiatives such as patient safety initiatives, implementation of clinical policies & procedures, use of the I-CARE, and the orientation of new employees to the program.
- Collaborate with unit managers on recruitment and practice performance management of staff; monitor clinical quality improvement measures; participate in program planning, research/evaluation and other academic activities.
- Support a healthy, diverse, team-oriented workplace and comply with all applicable regulatory requirements.
- Position based at 1001 Queen Street West with days, evenings, and weekend hours.
- RN registered in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario and current BCLS (CPR) certificate.
- Five (5) years of experience within the mental health field; experience with clients with severe mental health and addiction issues and/or forensic histories is an asset.
- BN/BScN degree; computer literacy; MN/MScN or other relevant Master's degree preferred.
- Previous teaching experience required; CNA certification in psychiatric/mental health nursing asset.
- Demonstrated ability to intervene in challenging clinical situations, manage disturbed behavior, and make effective decisions; highly organized with excellent communication skills; ability to work with diverse populations.
- Bilingualism or proficiency in a second language asset.

The Professional Practice Office is currently seeking a full-time, permanent Nurse Educator supporting the Geriatrics Program. Reporting to the Manager of Interprofessional Practice and Education and working collaboratively with the leadership team, you will play a key role in contributing to quality client care for CAMH clients.
