Description

This is a 12-month mandate in one of the Oxfam offices in Africa (to be determined)
The mandate is under the "_Equality in Action_" Volunteer Cooperation Program (VCP), which takes place in 14 countries and 3 regions over a seven-year period


The VCP aims to increase the involvement of local partners in developing countries in inclusive, innovative, and sustainable development initiatives that will advance gender equality.

Oxfam's role is to support these organizations, working with the most vulnerable and marginalized people, to claim and exercise their rights.

Oxfam places the rights of women, girls, and vulnerable and marginalized people at the heart of everything it does.


Here's what your daily life will look like:
In close collaboration with the Communication and Media team members of Oxfam in Africa (OiA), the advisor will:

  • Contribute to the development of an internal communications strategy
  • Create videos, articles, blogs, infographics and other types of innovative content for the internal platforms and social networks
  • Build capacity of country teams on communication content creation
  • Write and send texts for publication in Oxfam International's weekly newsletter
  • Propose innovative methods and approaches to engage internal audiences within Oxfam in Africa

For this mandate you must:


  • Be a Canadian citizen or have permanent residence in Canada
  • Possess an undergraduate or university degree in communication, journalism, visual design or other relevant field
  • Have relevant graphic design and visual design experience (example, ability to create short videos)
  • Have experience in social media management (an asset)
  • Demonstrate excellent writing skills
  • Have excellent knowledge of video and image editing softwares such as Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere, Avid, Photoshop etc. (an asset)
  • Be fluent in English and French, spoken and written (required)
  • Master the Microsoft Office Suite

  • Monthly allowance for your current expenses
  • 20% increase in the living allowance for one accompanying
child (maximum of 2 children)
- $1,500 CAD per year/child for school fees

  • A monthly amount for the rent

- $200 CAD for additional baggage

  • A volunteer support program during your term and up to two months after your return to Canada
