Job Summary:
This position is funded through Ontario's Job Creation Partnerships (see more details below).
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Festival Assistant will assist the Ottawa Fringe team managers on various projects and tasks including programming, volunteers, logistics and administration.
Responsibilities:
- Administration support during and post festival in particular for the volunteer program and with festival artists.
- Respond to general inquiries during the festival.
- Help prepare, process and file vendor and performer contracts.
- Arrange performers' travel and accommodation if applicable.
- Support the front of house team by assisting patrons at the box office.
- Support the Ottawa Fringe team onsite during the Ottawa Fringe Festival.
- Work with the team to postevaluate the event and make recommendations for the next year's event.
- Assist with the organization and inventorying of festival assets.
- Support with the administration of postfestival stewarding for partners, vendors and sponsors.
- Support the creation of documents and packages for the upcoming CAFF (Canadian Association of Fringe Festivals) conference to be hosted in Ottawa in the Fall.
Skills and Qualifications Required:
- Proficient with Google Suite.
- A people person who is positive, responsible, and enthusiastic
- Well organized, works well under pressure and takes on projects simultaneously and autonomously.
- Excellent oral skills in English, French is considered an asset.
- Experience in event management or the arts sector would be considered an asset.
- Comfortable providing customer service and speaking to the public.
Additional Qualifications Required:
Eligible to participate in Ontario's Job Creation Partnership (JCP) program by meeting the following criteria:
- An unemployed job seeker or those employed less than 20 hours per week.
- A permanent resident living in Ontario who is legally authorized to work in Canada.
Meet at least 1 of the following criteria:
a. Have an active Employment Insurance (EI) claim.
b. Previously established an EI benefit period within the last five years.
c.
Paid employee payroll premiums in at least three of the previous ten years (where earnings have been at least $2K in each of those years).
d. Received the Employment Insurance Emergency Response benefit (CERB) within the previous five years.NOTE:
Those registered in full-time academic studies
are not eligible to be considered.
Remuneration:
$662 (gross) per week provided by the Province of Ontario ($ based on 32 hours per week).

$20.69 per hour
Expected hours: 32 per week

- Monday to Friday
