We are seeking an Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager to provide leadership to the Trench Canada Coils team regarding safety.

You will collaborate closely with managers, employees, and the safety committee to ensure the ongoing maintenance and improvement of the safety management system and environmental functions.

How You'll Make an Impact

  • Leads the design, implementation, and maintenance of management system procedures, in line with applicable standards (ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001) and legislative requirements.
  • Provide leadership in a setting a high standard of communication, collaboration and constructive working relationships to the team including resultsoriented program planning, safety promotion and program implementation.
  • Developed strategies and execution of EHS objectives and zero harm framework with emphasis on employee engagement, encouraging worker participation and driving safety leadership with a focus approach on leading indicators such as proactive reviews of risk assessments, safety walks, behaviourbased safety and hazard / near miss reporting.
  • Responsible for the environmental reporting, RRPA accounts, waste manifests and submission of Ministry of Environment Reports (ChemTrac, Waste Audit, NPRI, TRA)
  • Provide technical advice and guidance to management, employees, and safety committee on EHS operational issues including but not limited to ergonomics, overhead crane, rigging, forklift, machine guarding, contractor management, electrical safety, chemical management, hot work and emergency response plans.
  • Lead the evaluation and monitoring of EHS performance metrics such as injury trends, incident rates, worker participation, EHS compliance audits, internal audits, external ISO audits, GHG footprint reduction and reducing operation related waste.

What You Bring

  • 4 or more years of EHS managerial experience within a manufacturing facility is required.
  • Undergraduate degree from a recognized university specializing in the field of occupational health and safety and / or environmental management and/or equivalent experience is required.
  • Possess or be in the process of obtaining the Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation is an asset.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, ESA, MOL and MOE, other related regulatory requirements as well as ISO 14001 and 4500
  • Experience conducting internal or ISO audits preferred.
  • Knowledge of union/labor relations is an asset.
  • Experience with comprehensive health and safety programs including WSIB claims management and return to work programs.
  • An interest in problem solving; strong writing and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and other digital solutions
  • Ability to work with variety of employee types (production staff, office support, management)
  • Proven track record of taking ownership and driving results
