Qualifications:
- College diploma or two years of postsecondary education.
- Two to three years proven experience within an office environment, preferably with an administrative and customer service focus.
- A combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
Suggested Additional Qualifications:
- Database and systems experience, customer service, process orientation, team orientation, and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.

Position Description
Title:
Admissions Specialist**
Major Job Function:
Purpose:
Reporting to the Registrar, the Admissions Specialist is responsible for coordinating the admissions process for credit programs.
As part of this responsibility, the Admissions Specialist reviews applicants and makes admissions decisions for domestic and international students in accordance with Master Program Plans (MPP) and College policies, procedures and regulations.
The Admissions Specialist must also maintain positive working relationships with academic program areas, assist with the resolution of issues related to the admissions process and provide excellent customer service to both prospective and current students.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Admissions
- Ensure admissions decisions are compliant with MPPs and College policies, procedures and regulations.
- Carry out registration functions related to the admissions process and ensure that academic program areas have accurate registration information.
- Ensure accurate admissions communications to students, including sending admissions letters, as well as providing registration information and documents for accepted applicants.
- Advise and assist students with respect to:
- Admissions requirements for credit programs
- The admissions process
- Applications and documentation required for admissions consideration
- Program advising referrals
- Tuition and fee information, including calculating and providing accurate estimates for applicants and accepted students.
- Student funding referrals
- Student service referrals
- Timelines and important dates
- General information about the College
- Engage in constructive, ongoing communication and problem solving with academic program areas and the Admissions team with respect to student admissions.
- Provide verified acceptance status letters to sponsoring agencies as required.
- Respond to internal and external inquiries related to the admissions process.
- Ensure compliance with the _Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act_.
- Become familiar with MPPs and ensure that admissions decisions are compliant with requirements outlined in MPPs.
- Participate in annual MPP reviews with academic program areas.
- Identify and communicate issues with MPPs to the Registrar; participate in issues resolution with academic program areas.
- Provide accurate credit program and admissions process information to customers in a timely and professional manner.
- Respond to external and internal queries regarding student admissions, enrolment and registration.
