Human Resources Generalist / Health & Safety

Reporting to the Director, Human Resources, the HR Generalist / Health & Safety is responsible for the effective administration of HR and Health & Safety tasks for the Hanover Operations Centre. They will work as part of a collaborative HR Team.

Responsibilities

• Support the JHSC and assist with incident investigations and hazard identification
• Maintain training records for employee personnel files
• Ensure policies and procedures are kept up to date with employment standards
• Assist with the creation and revision of the safe work procedures
• Organize training sessions
• Facilitate workplace inspections and JHSC meetings
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in Human Resources Management
• JSHC certification is considered an asset
• 1 – 3 years HR or Health & Safety experience preferred; however, recent graduates will be considered and are encouraged to apply
• Strong understanding of OHSA, ESA, and WSIB is preferred
• Detail oriented and resourceful self-starter with demonstrated ability to take initiative
• Proven ability to maintain confidentiality
• Strong interpersonal skills with sound written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to handle sensitive issues in a professional manner
• Experience in dealing with the public, handling inquiries, and working in a deadline-oriented environment
• Attention to detail and accuracy is essential along with well-established organization skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks and responsibilities while recognizing priorities
• Proficiency using Microsoft Excel and database applications
• Experience working in a unionized environment is an asset
• Dayforce HRIS (Ceridian) experience is an asset
