Duties and Responsibilities:

Qualifications:

The incumbent must possess the following qualifications:

Exceptional knowledge of the care and use of rare books;
Exceptional knowledge of Ottawa specific resources and instruction;
Exceptional knowledge of archival principles and standards;
Experience in working in a high pressure serviceoriented organization;
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and problemsolving abilities;
Experience in giving presentations; thorough knowledge and experience in research;
Ability to work with materials in foreign languages and in varying media;
Ability to work with a high degree of accuracy.
Maturity of judgment, initiative and selforganization are required to balance work priorities.
French language skills would be an asset.

Education and Experience:

The above is normally acquired through the completion of:

Undergraduate university degree, and an Archives Technician diploma or Library Information Technology diploma
Five years of relevant archives or library experience
