The staff members of the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner are committed to the provision of high quality services to Albertans.

Activities performed enable the Office to certify the cause and manner of death in accordance with the Fatalities Inquiries Act; provide forensic service, assist in educating Albertans in time of grief; and develop and maintain a center of excellence in forensic pathology and toxicology.

Role Responsibilities:


Do you possess strong business management skills? Do you have knowledge and understanding of Policy and Legislation change management? If so, we have an interesting position available with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) in Edmonton as the Manager, Policy and Legislation.


Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Manager, Policy and Legislation is responsible for leading and supporting legislative change and internal policy and process development for the Officer of the Chief Medical Examiner (CME) under guidance from the Chief Medical Examiner, Executive Director and Director of Operations.

Additional responsibilities for this position will include assisting senior management with Ministry strategic and business planning requirements.

Monitoring and reporting on the performance of the OCME 5 year strategic plan, Ministry and GoA business planning and accountability requirements, issue management and providing strategic advice on issues and briefings, including options and drafted responses to senior management of the OCME.

Obtaining access for applicable OMCE staff to the provincial electronic health system (Alberta NetCare). Request training for staff on the Health Information Act (HIA) and the use of Alberta NetCare). Provides support to the OCME regarding planning, writing, editing, analysis, evaluation and tracking as needed.

  • Have strong analytical skills, think strategically and critically, and develop solutions to complex problems.
  • Have strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, Action Request Tracking System (ARTS) and Adobe

Qualifications:


University graduation in a field (Business, Law, Science, Health, Social science, Public Administration) supplemented by a minimum of 4 years related experience.

Equivalencies may be considered:


Master's and a minimum of two (2) years experience, Diploma and a minimum of six (6) years related experience, No post-secondary education and a minimum of eight (8) years experience.
