Manager, Niagara Falls Business Events - Permanent, Full-Time


1.0 SUMMARY**Niagara Falls Tourism is seeking a dynamic, proactive and experienced Manager, Niagara Falls Business Events (NFBE). As a key member of the Niagara Falls Tourism (NFT) sales team, the primary responsibilities are to manage and execute the sales and strategic business development activities as outlined in the NFT Group Sales Plan for the NFBE group sales divisions of NFT. You will assist in developing and implementing NFT's mission of generating economic impact for the Niagara Falls destination through the generation of meeting, convention and group bookings and visitor spending.


2.0 REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS**The Manager, Niagara Falls Business Events, reports to and is directly responsible to the Director of Sales of

Niagara Falls Tourism.


3.0 JOB REQUIREMENTS**- Required Education_

3.1.1 Successful completion of related college or university program.

  • Association Affiliation_
3.2.1 Current membership to recognized travel/tourism associations preferred.

  • Experience_
3.2.2 Minimum of 5 years of experience in travel/tourism industry.

3.2.3 Minimum of 2 years senior sales management experience.

  • Skill, Knowledge and Abilities_
3.2.4 Knowledge of local, regional, national and international tourism trends.

3.2.5 Vast knowledge of the Meetings, Conventions and Incentive Travel Sales Markets.

3.2.6 Vast knowledge of sales including sales strategies, policies and procedures, and analysis.


3.2.8 Ability to work independently and work well with others with the goal of consensus building within NFT's membership framework.

3.2.9 Maintain open lines of communication with the Director of Sales and NFT staff.

3.2.10 If applicable, a secondary language; French, is preferred; but not mandated.

3.2.11 Advanced computer skills preferred. Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).

3.2.12 Advanced data-entry skills required for CRM Program and database upkeep.

3.2.13 Effective communication skills - written and verbal

3.2.15 Ability to exercise good judgment in recognizing scope of authority and protecting confidential information is a must.

3.3 _Working Conditions _

3.3.1 Requires standing, walking, sitting sometimes for long periods of time.

3.3.2 Position requires travel including air flight travelling to domestic and possibly international destinations. All proper travel and clearance documentation (the ability to travel internationally) is required.


3.3.3 Work will be performed normally within eight to ten hours per day; and based on client demand will require weekend scheduling.

There is occasional casual overtime. Some days may contain early or late meetings beyond the scheduled work hours.


4.0 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Sales


4.1 Full accountability and management for "prospecting, soliciting, researching and qualifying" meeting, convention and incentive business, including room night, Food & Beverage and Attraction components.


4.2 To be aware, accountable and responsible to achieving the prescribed Sales Revenue Targets as established by the Director of Sales and the budget goals of the organization.


4.3 To travel out of town where required to attend designated Trade Shows, Marketplaces, Sales Mission Trips, Sales FAMS as specified by the Director of Sales.

Such initiatives are to be self-managed (registered, coordinated, attended, follow-up)

4.4 Prepare clear and concise reports and accurate recording of budget expenses.

5 To plan, carry out and ensure "Sales Solicitations" are completed to achieve sales targets as outlined by Sales Budget & Sales Plan which include but are not limited to:


  • Repeat Business Soliciting


  • New

  • Outside Sales Calls


  • Telephone Marketing


  • New
business

  • Site Inspections

General
4.6 Cultivate and maintain an extensive knowledge of all NFT functions, initiatives and activities.

4.7 Closely monitor industry trends and local issues impacting NFT's organization and destination marketing work.

4.8 Participate in professional societies and activities related to hospitality and DMO industry.

4.9 Network with other CVB professionals to learn of new and unique ideas for organization and destination marketing.


5.0 MEASURES OF PERFORMANCE**5.1 Increase annual revenues for generated meeting, convention and incentive travel business revenue for membership and Niagara Falls

5.2 Demonstrate sound judgment and decision-making

5.3 Promote positive working relationships with members, staff, suppliers and customers

5.4 Increase awareness and image of Niagara Falls throughout North America and globally
