Custom Cabinet & Millwork Installer

General Position Information:


Reports to:
Millwork Division Manager


Collaborates with:
Project Manager, Lead Cabinet Maker and Cabinet Engineer


Hours:
Typically 7:30 - 4:30, Monday -Friday hour weeks)


Compensation:
Hourly wage (based on experience) + cell phone stipend, mileage reimbursement, paid overtime

Millwork Installer

Job Description:

The millwork installer is an integral piece of our workflow, taking our custom work from the final assembly stage through the completed installation handling all the finishing touches.

You will be responsible for managing the materials and schedule on site, understanding the design intent and expected quality level and ensuring that elevations of millwork are installed in a timely and exact manner.

Types of projects include custom kitchens, bars, vanities, built-ins and paneling plus all trim and molding.

Tooling:

The installer is expected to own their base hand tool set - power equipment and specialty tools will be provided by the company.

Consumables and tool maintenance will be covered by Boreal Woodwork.

The millwork department has an installation van outfitted with power tools, work tables, ladders and other necessary site items to complete the work.


Qualifications and Skills

  • Physical abilities must include manual dexterity, good eyehand coordination, physical fitness and the ability to lift and carry heavy objects such as cabinets, doors, panels, beams and other materials
  • Able to layout millwork elevations based on shop drawings and architectural renderings.
  • Able to think and plan ahead, planning and coordinating for the overlap of other trades, identifying issues and helping to resolve the issues.
  • Has a thorough understanding of cabinetry/millwork installation, wood products, wood joinery and the operation and installation of hardware systems
  • Works well Independently and as a teammate within the company
  • Effective time manager able and willing to work diligently and efficiently able to selfmanage time and tasks, complete work quickly, but accurately to meet deadlines and our quality standards
  • Able and willing to work well with others, willing to try new techniques and building methods
  • Desire to continuously learn and grow

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure a safe, clean, and productive work environment for you and others
  • Manage installation tools and materials kit. Ensuring tools are in proper working order and consumable are stocked on site.
  • Resolve installationrelated issues thoughtfully and efficiently.
  • Responsible for knowing proper use of tools and teaching install assistants about tool safety
  • Work in an efficient and timely manner
  • Responsible for the installation of finished millwork products, ensuring that the fit matches our quality standards and all hardware is properly installed and operational.
  • Communicate with the site superintendents and/or clients, keeping them updated on the progress of the project. Keep them informed of information or coordination that we need to complete the work.
  • Communicate with the Boreal Project Manager and Cabinet Engineer about ways to improve our overall processes.

Salary:
$24.00-$30.00 per hour
