Developmental Support Worker

Central West Specialized Developmental Services (CWSDS) is a leader in providing supportive living, community participation supports and specialized services, assessment and treatment to people who have developmental and intellectual disabilities, dual diagnosis, and/or challenging behaviours throughout the municipalities of Halton, Peel and Dufferin and the regions of Waterloo and Wellington.


As a specialist in the field of developmental an intellectual disabilities, CWSDS has experienced continued growth over the last five years.

As such, we are looking to hire
Overnight Support Workers on a full-time permanent basis (80 hours bi-weekly) and part time basis (24 hours/ week) This position will report to the Manager, Supportive Living.

RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Providing supervision to clients during the night time hours, including but not limited to hourly bed checks and walkabouts within the house.
  • Supporting the individuals' goals.
  • Providing night to night direct care and support to residents' needs, including assisting with personal hygiene, bathing, toileting, and providing first aid when required.
  • Dispensing and administering medications.
  • Ensuring safety and security of individuals.
  • Completing household duties such as laundry, cleaning, meal preparation and counts.
  • Ensuring accurate and uptodate documentation.
  • All other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Developmental Service Worker Diploma, B.A. B.Sc. in Psychology or related Social Services or equivalency.
  • Pharmacology, First Aid and Advanced Safe Management certifications are required.
  • Proven experience supporting people with developmental and intellectual disabilities and challenging behaviour.
  • Ability in the use of Behaviour Modification skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Providing proof of vaccination for COVID19 and maintaining vaccination status as necessary from time to time during employment.


The successful applicant will be hired in accordance with the provisions set out in Article 10.04 of the current Collective Agreement.


LOCATION:
Various across Halton Region, including Oakville, Burlington, Mississauga, Georgetown, and Halton Hills

Full Time and part time
