The Faculty of Health Sciences is a large, diverse, and comprehensive unit, comprised of six Schools (Nursing, Kinesiology, Health Studies, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Communication Sciences and Disorders), a large Interdisciplinary Graduate Program in Health and Rehabilitation Sciences and four Research Centres.

The Faculty has more than 3,200 undergraduate students and more than 800 graduate students (200 PhD students).


Responsibilities:


The Program Manager will play a critical role in supporting the development of high-quality academic programs across the Faculty of Health Sciences.

Working closely with the Associate Dean, Undergraduate Programs, Associate Dean, Graduate and Post-Doctoral Studies, School Directors, Program Chairs and other leaders across the faculty, the Program Manager will support the planning, development and integration of all academic programs including supporting curriculum redesign, and collaborative program design.

Using their knowledge of both graduate and undergraduate programs, the role will play an integral role in the coordination of project activities and resources and will support the Schools and Programs across the faculty with program and course development and evolution.

The Program Manager will maintain linkages with stakeholders and liaise among the course development teams which include the Office of the Registrar, School of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies (SGPS) and other faculty and continuing study partners.

The role promotes the integration of experiential and international learning experiences into curriculum and programs.


Qualifications:


Education:


  • Masters Degree in Education, Health and Rehabilitation Sciences or related discipline
  • Courses completed in project management
  • PhD or EdD in Education, Health and Rehabilitation or related discipline preferred
  • Completion of Project Management Professional certificate (or equivalent) an asset

Experience:


  • 3 years' experience working on educational program design at the postsecondary level
  • Experience leading complex and dynamic projects in a postsecondary environment, managing project and administrative staff teams
  • Demonstrated success in relationship development and recruiting
  • 5 years' experience in curriculum and program design preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Indepth knowledge of learning principles, current theories and practices in Education
  • Familiarity with educational technologies, and outcomebased curriculum design
  • Familiarity with financial budgeting and principles, Human Resources principles and practices, Employment Standards Act and other relevant legislation
  • Knowledge of best practices in building a strong collaborative team and leading people
  • Project management skills to champion a project from conception to completion, and to ensure that team roles are clear, milestones are communicated, and deadlines are met
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to develop a shared vision to lead and coach employees to excellence
  • A welldefined sense of diplomacy including solid negotiation, facilitation, and conflict resolution skills
  • Communication skills with the ability to converse with, write reports for, and deliver presentations to all levels of the organization (other departments, key business partners and external agencies)
  • Influential interpersonal skills that build positive and strong relationships at all levels of the organization
  • Ability and willingness to stay abreast of technological developments with a demonstrated commitment to ongoing learning and professional development
  • Selfdriven, independent thinker who is highly motivated and possesses an intrinsic passion for quality
  • Resultsoriented with the ability to motivate and coach employees to meet high performance standards, while working effectively as a member of the leadership team
  • Advanced judgment, analytical and problemsolving skills with a consultative and collaborative approach to addressing issues and opportunities
  • Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple and diverse tasks and to quickly reallocate resources and adjust priorities in response to unexpected events or changing circumstances
  • Familiarity with University policies and procedures preferred
