Position Overview:


The Company Security Officer (CSO) leads all physical security functions for IMP Aerospace and Defense and has enterprise level responsibility for security strategies, policies, procedures and regulatory compliance.

The scope of this role covers all Company utilized security technologies and services, including but not limited to, protection services, perimeter defenses, physical and logical access control, profile management of all employees, contractors and visitors and the administration and execution of IMP Aerospace and Defense Security Plans.

The CSO is results-oriented who can achieve tangible improvements in the corporate, industrial and regulatory security arenas.


What You Will Do:


  • Liaise directly with government security agencies ensuring continued compliance with NATO security clearances, the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Transport Canada Restricted Area control systems;
  • Assign and oversee Alternate CSOs and security clearances for multiple locations including Halifax, Amherst, Hammonds Plains, Comox, Trenton, Gander, Greenwood and Gatineau;
  • Travel to other divisions within IMP to conduct briefings, training sessions and to assist in the development of their Security Plan;
  • Arrange and participate in external and internal audits of the security programs, risk mitigation and the development and implementation of effective preventive and corrective measures as appropriate;
  • Interact with personnel at all levels of the organization including Division executives, business managers, audit and legal counsel to communicate and promote corporate requirements related to security and regulatory compliance;
  • Investigate suspected security breaches, identify and implement appropriate corrective and preventive actions;
  • Serve as the focal point for security incident response planning and execution;
  • Remain current with security information and the requirements of PWGSC/PSPC and TC government programs;
  • Act as the principal for the preparation and upkeep of IMP Security Plans, procedures and directives;
  • Security control of building entrance and exit points, vehicle entrance and exit points, material movements through security checkpoints and the integrity of perimeter fencing and lighting;
  • Ensure security and restricted area passes, files and databases are maintained;
  • Preparation and shipment of confidential documentation to security screening agencies;
  • Oversee the preparation and maintenance of security files for all employees;
  • Prepare and maintain security status reporting as required;
  • Must be competent in the use computers and a variety of office equipment and computer software;.
  • Control of security critical keys and locks; and
  • General office and other duties as assigned.

What You Will Bring:


  • Postsecondary education with an emphasis on security or equivalent is considered an asset;
  • Work experience derived from extensive employment in a public protection environment such as a national, provincial, municipal or military police force;
  • Ability to interface with top management;
  • Familiarity with aviation related operations;
  • Previous experience working in a position of high confidentiality;
  • Experience in training/disseminating information to groups in a classroom environment;
  • Familiarity with Transport Canada, Public Works, Controlled Goods, and ITAR security requirements;
  • Demonstrate a personal commitment to IMP Occupational Health, Safety and Environment policies;
  • Continually focusing on your individual safety and the safety of others who may be affected by your work and to fully comply with all Federal Health and Safety Legislation;
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement, Lean & 8S activities in your area
  • Must be eligible to meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Secret Level II Security Clearance through PSPC
  • Contract Security Program, and Transport Canada RAIC clearance.
