Summary of Duties:


Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, the Family Enhancement Worker provides support services to Lil'wat families primarily on reserve.

The focus of this position is 1. Providing education programs and services to families and 2. Advocating for and supporting families involved with child protection services (this also includes representing Lil'wat Nation in court matters). The emphasis with all services is on keeping children with their parents.


Key Deliverables and Expectations:


  • Advocacy: Provide advocacy and support for families involved with child protection services on and off reserve. Attend provincial court, mediations, and family group conferences as a designated Lil'wat Nation representative.
  • Family Support: Provide individual and group prevention and skill enhancement services.
  • Family Preservation/Reunification: Provide intensive family preservation and reunification services designed to strengthen and preserve families using flexible service methods that are determined by the family's strengths and needs.
  • Provide transportation of clients as necessary using personal vehicle.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate professional files which provide all necessary documentation regarding the family.
  • Maintain weekly updates with supervisor regarding all assigned families.
  • Maintain monthly records of work completed and in manner assigned.
  • Perform other related duties as requested, including flexible hours and some evenings.

Experience and Attributes:


  • Education and previous relevant work experience with First Nations people in related services.
  • Minimum of two years' work experience preferred.
  • Previous experience in Lil'wat community is an asset.
  • Experience facilitating group education programs.
  • Knowledge of effective and evidencebased parenting approaches.
  • Knowledge of financial management, household routines, and stress management.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in the English language.
  • Ability to work independently as well as effectively with a team, establishing good working relationships with clients and staff.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and time management skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Motivated selfstarter with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Highly professional in all aspects of business, presentation and interaction with all stakeholders, clients, and Members.
  • Must have a valid Class 5 license and a reliable vehicle for travelling and transporting when required.
