Summary of Duties:
Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, the Family Enhancement Worker provides support services to Lil'wat families primarily on reserve.
Key Deliverables and Expectations:
- Advocacy: Provide advocacy and support for families involved with child protection services on and off reserve. Attend provincial court, mediations, and family group conferences as a designated Lil'wat Nation representative.
- Family Support: Provide individual and group prevention and skill enhancement services.
- Family Preservation/Reunification: Provide intensive family preservation and reunification services designed to strengthen and preserve families using flexible service methods that are determined by the family's strengths and needs.
- Provide transportation of clients as necessary using personal vehicle.
- Establish and maintain appropriate professional files which provide all necessary documentation regarding the family.
- Maintain weekly updates with supervisor regarding all assigned families.
- Maintain monthly records of work completed and in manner assigned.
- Perform other related duties as requested, including flexible hours and some evenings.
Experience and Attributes:
- Education and previous relevant work experience with First Nations people in related services.
- Minimum of two years' work experience preferred.
- Previous experience in Lil'wat community is an asset.
- Experience facilitating group education programs.
- Knowledge of effective and evidencebased parenting approaches.
- Knowledge of financial management, household routines, and stress management.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in the English language.
- Ability to work independently as well as effectively with a team, establishing good working relationships with clients and staff.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and time management skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, and maintain confidentiality.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Motivated selfstarter with strong interpersonal skills.
- Highly professional in all aspects of business, presentation and interaction with all stakeholders, clients, and Members.
- Must have a valid Class 5 license and a reliable vehicle for travelling and transporting when required.
